Breakfast Bake

8 slices white bread - cubed
Lay bread in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 pan.

In a large bowl:

Beat 8 eggs and add 4 cups milk, beat again, then add the following:
salt and pepper
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 full cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

In a frying pan:

½ lb. or so bacon cooked crisp/crumbled, or may use sausage or ham
1 can drained mushroom pieces
1 small onion, chopped fine
green peppers (optional)
(We use bacon, mushrooms, onions.)


Fry bacon, drain grease, sauté onions and mushrooms in same pan. Drain on paper towel. Cool before adding to egg, milk mixture.

Pour the mixture over the cubed bread, cover with foil wrap, and place in fridge overnight.

In the morning, covered, bake in preheated 350º oven for 1 hr or so until done. Remove foil last 15 minutes.

When done baking, allow to set for 5 minutes before serving.
