Cherry Maraschino Loaf

The slices are flavored with color as well as taste. Pretty and pink.


1/4 c butter or margarine

1 c granulated sugar

1 egg

2/3 c milk

1/3 c maraschino cherry juice

1 tsp almond flavoring

2 c all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 c chopped walnuts

1/2-2/3 c chopped maraschino cherries


Put butter, sugar and egg in mixing bowl. Beat until smooth.

Stir in milk, cherry juice and flavoring.

In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in nuts and cherries.

Pour into batter. Moisten all ingredients by stirring as little as possible.

Spoon into a greased 9x5x3 loaf pan. Bake at 350ºF for 45 minutes.

Let stand for 10 min.

Turn loaf out onto rack to cool. Store in a plastic bag.
