Cheesy French Bread

Submitted by Nancy Ness
My friend Michele shared this recipe with me recently and we all enjoy it. It's great with lasagna or other pasta dishes.

Ingredients

1 loaf French bread

1 smallish to medium onion minced

1 stick of melted butter or 1/2 cup margarine

2 tsp poppy seeds

2 tsp seasoning salt

2 tsp yellow mustard (just regular old mustard)

2 Tbsp lemon juice

1-8oz pkg sliced Swiss cheese

Directions

Sautee the minced onions with the melted butter in a saucepan and then add the remaining ingredients (except the Swiss cheese).

Slice the French bread diagonally into approximately 1" slices to within 1/4 inch of bottom. Also make a cut lengthwise on the top to within 1/4 inch of bottom. Put the French bread on a sheet of aluminum foil. Brush the butter and onion mixture inside the cuts of the bread. Place slices of Swiss cheese between each of the cuts in the French bread and overhanging a bit on the tops.

Bake at 350 – 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
