Schmarn

Recipe from my father's mother, Mina Hauner

This is a German recipe from my father's family. It is like a chopped up pancake.
I enjoyed this for breakfast a lot when I was little. Now my family tradition is to make it every Sunday morning.

Ingredients

2 cups flour

Pinch of salt

4 eggs

Add enough milk to make like pancake batter.

Directions

Mix ingredients. Melt 1 Tbsp. Butter in 10” skillet (cast iron works best) over med-high heat. Pour mixture into skillet. Let bottom form a crust and then turn and chop into bit sized pieces. Continue to cook until all pieces are a light to medium brown.

Serve in bowls with berry sauce, or sugar sprinkled over the top.

Note: We've had several spellings of this recipe including Shmorn, Schmorn, Smorn, and Schmarren.
