Submitted by Linda Lovisa 1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef 1 large can of tomato sauce 1 med. can of diced or whole tomato's 1 small can of tomato paste 1 small onion or 6 green onions 1 red or green pepper diced 3 stalks of celery diced mushrooms optional 3 garlic cloves 3 bay leaves, 1 teaspoon of basil 1 1/2 teaspoon of savoury 1 teaspoon of oregano 1 teaspoon of thyme 1 teaspoon of chilli peppers salt and pepper to taste ( I don't normally need to add any)
Brown ground beef then rinse with hot water to reduce fat Add onion and garlic. When onion becomes transparent add peppers and celery. Then add can of tomato sauce, diced tomato's and paste----Stir Add herbs I usually put mushrooms in at the very end so they don't get too mushy Simmer on low for 2 to 3 hours. Serve with pasta
On the side: Prepare baguette in thin slices, prepare a shallow dish of virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, dip bread. Mmmm good. Bon appetite!
