Candied Fruit Slices

1 cup butter

1 cup powered sugar

egg

2 1/4 cup flour

1 tsp vanilla

 

Beat all together then by hand carefully add:

1 cup pecan halves (sometimes I use walnuts)

1 cup candied fruit (red and green cherry halves and pineapple hunks)

 

Divide in about 4

Put back in bowl and chill at least 1 hour

 

Cut 4 pieces of wax paper and shape dough into rounds, square, oblong, rectangle.  Wrap in wax paper and chill again for as long as you want.   

 

Slice between 1/4" and 1/2"  (1/2" is too thick).    

 

Place on cookie sheets and bake at 350º for about 14 min.

 

Freeze if you like.

Makes approximately 6 dozen.
